Mr. James "Jim" Donald Simmons' Obituary

James Donald Simmons, 84, passed away at his home in Nashville on April 19, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, James Simmons, his mother, Christine Johnson, his wives Pearl Schmidt and Norma Simmons, and his sons James Simmons, Jr. and Terry Chaney. He is survived by children Joey Simmons (Donna), Eddie Tennison (Christine), Earby Tennison (Marcia), and Angela Melton (Jerry); sister Debbie Johnson (Mike); ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In the 1950’s Jim worked for RC Cola and in the 60’s and 70’s was the owner of Lion Oil Company in East Nashville. In later years he was self-employed in various enterprises.
Jim had a kind heart and a deep love for his family and friends, and he could always be counted on to help anyone in need. He enjoyed playing poker, wood-working, watching old westerns, and spoiling his beloved cats. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 27th at 11:00 AM at Spring Hill Cemetery. Due to Coronavirus precautions no indoor services or visitation will be held.
