James "Jim" Robert Sterle, Jr.'s Obituary
James "Jim" Robert Sterle, Jr., 74, of Spring Hill, Tennessee passed away at home on Thursday morning Oct 12, 2023 after a long fought battle with liver cancer. He was born in Memphis, TN. He was proceeded in death by his father James R Sterle, stepmother Delorese Sterle, sister Patricia Miller, and brother Alton (Buddy) Edmiston.
He had a love for sports and over his years of playing he earned seven athletic letters. While a student at Blessed Sacrament school he played on the Immaculate Conception football team and was named “Outstanding Lineman” of the year. As a freshman and sophomore at Catholic High School in Memphis he played on the football and track teams. He then went on to play football and run track for Bishop Byrne High school where he graduated in 1967.
After high school he joined the Air Force, where he served for 8 years as a Staff Sergent. He attended college at Memphis State. He then went to work for Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics as a District Sales manager for 29 years. Then went to work as Dillard’s Department store manager of Rivergate store for 6 years.
He served on the Williamson County Board of Education for 6 years. He also served on the Grassland Athletic Association. He coached many softball and basketball teams in the Grassland area. He was an avid golfer and played in many tournaments in Memphis, TN.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Margaret Gay Sterle, daughter Regina (Shane) Harvey and sons Dennis (Jennifer) Sterle and David (Crystal) Sterle. Grandkids Reagan Harvey, Haven Sterle, Stella Sterle, Charles Sterle, Julia Sterle and James Sterle and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday October 25th 6-8pm at Fieldstone Club House 1530 Lexington Pkwy Franklin, TN 37069.
