Mr. James Johnson's Obituary
James Lansden Johnson of Nashville, TN passed away December 12, 2016 at age 77. He is preceded in death by his parents, Horace Johnson and Jesse Johnson, his grandson, Kasey Coble and beloved brother-in-law Bobby Taylor.
He is survived by daughters, Jennifer (Tim) Gibbs and Amy (Patrick) Swindle; brother, Jerry (Melissa) Johnson; sisters, Frances Taylor and Sandra (Lecil) Smith; grandchildren, Alexandria and Cassandra Swindle; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim grew up in Madison, TN. He graduated from Madison High School in 1957 and Harris School of Art in 1961. He was an extremely talented artist working in the country music industry designing album covers for many country music artists. Jim also did illustration work for Freewill Baptist and the Baptist Sunday School Board.
Jim, also known as Papaw, had a very creative, colorful sense of humor. He loved nature and animals, both observing and expressing them artistically. Jim enjoyed many sports, was an exceptional baseball player and later enjoyed golf…often.
A celebration of life service will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville, TN. The service will be on Friday, December 16th at 12:00pm. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
