I am truly saddened by the passing of Dr. Montmarquet. He was a brilliant man. I had the pleasure of learning under him while attending Tennessee State University (TSU), where he was head professor of philosophy. He knew the material so well that it was hard to not walk away from each of his classes thinking, "Man, that dude's smart! He really knows his stuff." He was also able to get everybody in the classroom thinking and involved in the discussion, which helped in learning and understanding the material. His course in Logic and Critical Thinking was amazing. He simply has an ingenious mind. In fact, he received his PhD from the University of Chicago, which is consistently ranked as one of the top ten universities in the United States! People like that need to be known. So, I took it upon myself to hang around after class and ask him questions, kind of like someone following Socrates around hoping to soak up some of his brilliance. I took all the classes I could from him, and maintained a friendship with him after finishing at TSU. I already miss him, especially his smile and laugh while he was joking around with you. I talked with him just last month, and can't believe that he's gone so quickly. I wish I would have seen him more and spent more time with him. TSU will never be able to fill the hole that's now been left from Dr. Montmarquet's passing. Thank you Dr. Montmarquet for your wonderful mind and work. I am so glad that you were on this earth. You truly made it better. Thank you for being my friend. I can't say that I know for sure how everything works out in the end, but whatever the case may be, I'll say now that I miss you Dr. Montmarquet, I love you, and I hope to see you again. I hope that you are now living as if never before in that world of indescribable love, joy, and peace where there will be no more death, sadness, crying, or pain, and continuous learning, growing, and development takes place forevermore.
Godspeed, Dr. Montmarquet.
Your friend and student,
Victor
