Mr. James Edward "Ed" Thompson's Obituary
James E. “Ed” Thompson, age 78 of Nashville passed away May 28, 2013 after a brief illness. Mr. Thompson was born on December 13, 1934 to the late C.C. and Myrtie May Thompson. He served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army, was retired from Enco Materials after 30 years of service; Ed was also an avid golfer who loved golfing with the seniors at Two Rivers and held an Amateur Radio License. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Elma Thompson and sisters, Jean Crutchfield and Decie Massey. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eleanor M. Thompson; brother, Bill Thompson; and sisters, Myrtle Gilliam and Muriel Helton. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 31st at 9:30 A.M. from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Bro. Dustin Welch officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, May 30th from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alive Hospice or the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief.
