Mr. James Robert Woodson's Obituary
James Robert Woodson, 87, of Fairview, TN, passed away February 29, 2024. Born in Nashville, TN on July 28, 1936, he was the son of Robert and Ruby Woodson.
James Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Raymond Woodson, his sisters Barbara Porter and Patricia Woodson and son in law Phillip Brasher, Sr. He is survived by his brother Terry Woodson.
James Robert grew up in a loving home in the Inglewood area of Nashville. At 13 he met the cute little girl down the street and thus began a 74 year relationship. In 1955 he married his beloved sweetheart Ann Anderson. They raised two children, Wyatt Woodson (Tina) and Jamie Brasher. He was an amazing grandfather to four grandchildren, Phillip Brasher, Jr (Nicole), Anna Greene (Austin), Savannah Brasher, Heather Pardue, and great grandson Grayson. Known as Poppa to them, he will be forever endeared for always providing many adventures and an endless supply of Root Beer, Egg McMuffins, and ice cream.
James Robert graduated from Issac Litton High School in 1956. He then embarked on a 46 year career in the Industrial Laundry business, beginning at Industrial Towel and Uniform Service in Nashville, TN. His employment there took him to plants in Birmingham, AL, Shelbyville, TN and Pine Bluff, AR. In 1987 James Robert moved to Southaven, MS and took the position of General Manager at White Rose Rental Laundry/ AmeriPride in Memphis TN until retiring in 2001. He was a member, board member and officer of many civic organizations including Rotary Club, United Way, Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. As an astute businessman and community leader, he made a lasting impact on those around him, and in return he was deeply loved and respected.
James Robert was a deeply caring and outgoing individual, epitomizing the qualities of a true southern gentleman. He was a friend to all he met. His generosity and willingness to help others were well known. He will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, March 7 at 12:00 p.m. at Springhill Funeral Home In Nashville. A visitation time with family will proceed at 10.30 a.m. Burial will follow immediately after at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
