Dr. Jane Elizabeth Stone-Brissie's Obituary
Today, my mother, Dr. Jane Elizabeth Stone Brissie passed away at 3:20pm at the Trevecca Center for Health Rehabilitation and Healing. She was the daughter of George Edward Stone, Jr. (1922-2004) and Eleanor Elizabeth Huggins Stone (1924-2018).
She was the widow of George Stephen Brissie (1946-2011. She is survived by sons Peter Brissie (46), of Publix Super Markets (Goodlettsville) and Mark Brissie (44) of Uptowns Smoke Shop (Green Hills). She has two remaining sisters Carol Stone Russell, of Knoxville, Tn. and Judith E. Stone, of Mt. Juliet, Tn.
Throughout her life, she was a loving mother who treated her two sons and whole family with love and interest. She saw to it that her sons live cultured lives by frequently traveling......Destin, Fl, Nags Head, Nc, Australia, Germany, Liechtenstein, Austria, Switzerland, Banff, Canada, Snow Shoe, WV just to name a few.
She was very proud of her family. As a child, her father, George Stone, told her she could be anything she wanted to be. So, while parenting, she experienced great success as a school psychology graduate student, clinical psychology doctoral student at Vanderbilt, Associate Professor of School Psychology Graduate Studies at Middle Tennessee State University, as well as frequent free-lance jobs teaching at Vanderbilt University, as well as testing children and assessing them to see how she could improve their quality of life. She was also a past president of TASP (Tennessee Association of School Psychologists) in the late 1990's and member of NASP (National Association of School Psychologists).
I would like all my family and friends this week to remember not only a successful person, but a person of love, health, happiness, and endurance.
Funeral visitation services will be held at the Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery on Gallatin Pike, just off Briley Parkway, from 4-8 on Tuesday, November 6 and funeral services will be held Wednesday November 7 at 11am with burial shortly after.
Thank you for being the most awesome mother ever, mom!
Peter Brissie
