Mrs. Janet Grace Bareford Gascoigne's Obituary
Janet Grace Bareford Gascoigne, age 89 passed away January 23, 2015 at her home. She was born on November 29, 1925 in Plainfield, NJ to the late Harold and Harriett Bareford. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold Bareford, Jr. and sister, Betty Bareford.
Mrs. Gascoigne attended Cornell University where she met her husband Clayton. She was co-owner of Jan’s Hallmark Shop. She loved to travel, bowl, and play bridge. Her hobbies included doll collecting, crafts and hand work, especially making greeting cards and prayer shawls. Her special joy was her family.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Clayton, and her brother William Bareford; four daughters Susan Grace (Benjamin) Boyer, Nancy Jan (Robert) Shelton, Janet Elizabeth (John) Voyles and Harriett Lyn (Michael) Hurdle; five grandchildren Ronald Shelton, Susan (Michael) Grissom, Emily (Scott) Rettig, Clayton and Christopher Hurdle; four great-grandchildren Benjamin and Julianna Rettig, Michael (Mikey) and Christopher James (CJ) Grissom.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, January 26, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randall Goodman officiating. Her sons-in-law and grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Members of the Companions Class at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Sunday 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson, Tennessee with Rev. Paul Clayton officiating. A reception immediately following the graveside service on Tuesday at Forest Heights United Methodist Church. Memorials may be sent to the Hendersonville First United Methodist Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
