Mrs. Jean Dodgen Ashley's Obituary
Mrs. Jean Dodgen Ashley, age 85 of Greenbrier, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021. She was born in Loanoke County, Arkansas on February 14, 1936 to the late Wesley and Beatrice Dodgen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack W. Ashley Sr, brothers Joe Dodgen and Pete Dodgen, sister Hazel Brumley, and grandson Jackson Ashley. She is survived by her children Pat Fults (Terry), Jan Ashley, and Jack W. Ashley II (Dana); sisters Vivian Harris, Carolyn Young, and Louise Weakley; grandchildren Eric Fults, Jesse Fults, Brandon Fults (Jana), Sophia Ashley, and Sam Ashley; and great-grandchildren Eric Paul and Charlee Linquist-Sanders.
Jean retired from Baptist Hospital in 2000, after over 30 years of service in the Health Information Management Department. She loved the Lord and was baptized at a young age. She was a faithful member of Parkway Baptist Church and loved her Sunday School class. Jean was a strong, independent, and determined person who always rose to meet any challenge that came her way. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her children, and especially her grandchildren were her whole world. Jean was well loved by all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Jean's memory be made of Jackson's Playground, South Haven Christian School. 112 Academy Drive, Springfield, TN 37172.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 27 from 4pm-8pm. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 28 at 10am, with the family receiving visitors an hour prior. Entombment in the Serenity Chapel Mausoleum within Historic Spring Hill Cemetery will follow.
