Jerry Albert Rittenberry, Sr, 87, of Madison, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Born May 17, 1933 in Sandy Hook, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Joe Paul Rittenberry and Melba Wells Pearson.
Anne Lovely Garrett Rittenberry, 87, of Madison, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021. Born January, 14, 1934 in Nashville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James Walton Garrett and Martha Love Chadwell Garrett.
Jerry owned and operated Jerry’s Bi-Rite grocery stores in the Nashville area between 1961 and 1999. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed dearly. He was a member of City Road United Methodist Church in Madison, as well as a member of Gideons International. Jerry enjoyed researching genealogy in his spare time.
Anne was a much loved and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will also be missed dearly. She thought her greatest legacy was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of City Road United Methodist Church in Madison and highly involved with the Living Word Class.
In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by their son Joseph Allen Rittenberry; Jerry's sister Peggy Thompson; Anne’s siblings Henry Garrett, Betty Woodard, and Tommy Garrett.
They are survived by children Jerry Rittenberry, Jr., Garrett Rittenberry, Martha Love (Phillip) Little, Paul Rittenberry, and MelbaAnne (Billy) Barrett; grandchildren Amanda, Alicia (Nick), Michael (Marla), Jay, Wyatt, Walton (Hallie), Ashlyn and Lauryn; great grandchildren Aiden, Hadley, Josephine, and a great granddaughter on the way; beloved family members Alma, Bobby, Brian, Cindy, and Janet; Anne’s siblings James Garrett and Nan Batey; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 4 PM to 7 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. Visitation will continue from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Living Word Sunday School Class from City Road United Methodist Church.
