Jerry Emerson Stewart, aged 84, passed away on August 28, 2024, in Hendersonville, TN. Born on July 11, 1940, in Nashville, TN, Jerry lived a life marked by laughter, love, and unwavering faith.
Jerry served honorably in the United States Air Force, dedicating himself to a life of discipline and service. His commitment to his country was paralleled by his devotion to his family and his faith. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Jerry was deeply involved in church activities, reflecting his strong belief and commitment to his community.
In his leisure time, Jerry was passionate about camping, riding motorcycles, and traveling, always ready for another adventure. He was a nurturing presence, known for spoiling those around him—especially his beloved dogs—and for his humorous, kind, and occasionally stubborn nature.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Stewart; his children, Samantha Blackburn, Debbie Underwood (Danny) and Doyle Stewart (Natalie), daughter-in-law, Carrie Wages, stepson, James Wages; his grandchildren, Chris Stewart (Daniele), Korey Sokol (Mike), Shannon Vaughn, Shania Duane (Zach) and Edward Wages, Liam Wages; and his great-grandchildren: Zaviera Harris, Holly & Bodie Vaughn, Charles and Theodore Duane, two sisters, Joyce Stewart and Bonnie Douglas and a brother, Charles Stewart (Claudia). He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Stewart, stepmother, Lola Stewart; mother, Bertha Lee Gifford Cantrell and stepfather, Claude Cantrell; brothers, Ronald, Bobby, and Tommy; and granddaughter, Dominique Harris.
A service to honor Jerry's life will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 5110 Gallatin Pike S, Nashville, TN 37216, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 2pm with receiving of family and friends from 12pm until 1:45pm. Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery will be assisting the family during this time, ensuring that Jerry's legacy is honored and remembered.
