Jessie "Deanie" Brown's Obituary
The family of Jessie Abodean “Deanie” Brown would like to share about her passing on April 8th, 2026, in Nashville, TN after a long and arduous journey with dementia. Born in Mt. Pleasant, TN on May 20th, 1942, she spent her life as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Deanie only had 3 jobs in her life, all of which involved accounting and bookkeeping with the majority of her career with Kennon Construction where she became family to the Kennon’s over the years and later was their caregiver.
Throughout her life, Deanie had many pleasures for which she excelled. She has a file cabinet full of recipes that she used for cooking and her ability to make delicious food was unmatched. You can find several of her amazing paintings throughout the house that look as good as anything Bob Ross created. Other hobbies she loved over the years were sewing, bowling, fishing, ceramics, and camping. We can’t forget the period when her and Mark were square dancers! The one hobby that transcended her whole life was the love for reading. Fiction and crime were her favorites, and she devoured books weekly up until her dementia robbed her of this pleasure.
Deanie spent lots of time with each and every one of her grandchildren. She took them square dancing, taught them to cook and bake, and read to them; and more than anything, she loved them unconditionally and would do anything for them.
Later in life, Deanie loved to travel, drive nice cars and watch Tom Brady play football.
Those who have passed on before are her parents Tillman Howard and Eliza May McMahan, her husband Edwin Mark Brown of 63 years and all of her siblings. Those left behind to cherish are her son, Gary (Susan) Brown and daughter, Leigh Anne (Andy) Harrell; grandchildren, Alan (Holly) Brown, Jeremy (Morgan) Brown, Sam (Sabrina) Harrell, Shelly (Colby) Wisdom, Abbey (Jonathon) Adams, Jayla Brown; great grandchildren, Audrina, Hayden, Kendric, Garrett, Natalie, Jon-Lee, and Andrew; bonus grandchildren, Kelton, Brittany and Brycen; many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Alive Hospice for the love and care that was shown to Mom over the last several months under their Palliative Care Program and for the team at their residential facility that took wonderful care of her during her final days on this earth.
