Jewell H. (Shrum) Brown's Obituary
Jewell Hazel Brown, age 86, of Nashville, Tennessee, went home on Saturday, August 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was from Hartsville, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert F. Brown; her parents, Robert and Mary Shrum; brothers, Reese, Robert and Billy Shrum; one grandson, William Huff; one granddaughter Alicia Rae Covington and by her first husband William Maynard. She is survived by her five daughters, Anita Wilson, Mary Capley, Linda Martinez (Mitch), Patricia Covington (Ray), Theresa Miller (Bud); three sisters, Virginia Newsom, Margaret Scantland (Arnold), Louise Scantland (Bill); brothers, Gene Allen, Rhea Garrett and Walter Shrum (MaryJo); grandchildren, Jeannie Glass (Taz), Rocky Arington, Sr., Katrina Nevels, Lakisha Davenport, Robbie Winters (Jamie), Tracy Covington (Monty), Sammy Harrington (Jeannie), Phillip Harrington (Niki); 5 step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren; special friend, Vera Wheat. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jewell loved watching wrestling, Madea movies, word seek puzzles. In her younger years she enjoyed sewing and crafts. She loved the Lord and going to church when she was able. She enjoyed cooking for friends and family and was known for her pies. Above all she loved her family with all her heart.
Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 1-8 pm and again on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 10-11 at which time a Celebration of Life Funeral Ceremony will be conducted from the Chapel at Spring Hill Funeral Home by Pastor Roy Duke.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Winters, Phillip Harrington, Sammy Harrington, Paul Huff, Ricky Darnell Davenport, Dylan Huggins, Ciarius Joyce, and RJ Arington, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will include; John Jenkins, Robert Davenport, Jon Pennington, Rocky Arington, Sr., DaShawn Davenport, Ciara Joyce, Austin Harrington, and JaShanna McBryant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or First United Pentecostal Church (7512 Charlotte Pike Nashville, TN 37209) in her memory.
