Jewell Christine Putty's Obituary
Jewell Christine Putty, age 98, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed peacefully on April 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 31, 1927, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Julius and Christine Hadley. Jewell met the love of her life, Calvin Putty, Jr., while working at a local diner in Nashville. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Norma, Erskine (Butch), Patsy, and Michael.
She loved music especially old, classic country music. Music filled her life and some of her favorite times spent with friends and family were gathered in her home for their own special hootenannies. She played the guitar and loved to sing with gusto, encouraging everyone around her to join in and make a joyful noise. She taught her children to sing and play guitar with her. She loved the special times with her family, and these are precious memories that carried her through her days.
Jewell will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother who dedicated her life to the care and well-being of her family. She was a devoted member of Luna Lane Church of Christ in Hendersonville, where her faith guided her daily life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius (Erskine) and Christine Hadley; her husband of nearly 40 years, Calvin Putty, Jr.; and her siblings, Victor (Snookie) Hadley, Erskine (Dooney) Hadley, Jr., Gerald Hadley, and Kenneth Hadley, grandchildren, Earl (Bo) Cosby and Melissa Chance, and great grandchildren, Joshua Chance and Sarah Chance and niece, Angela Montgomery.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Norma Bundy, Erskine (Jackie) Putty, Patsy Pack, and Michael (Bonnie) Putty; and her grandchildren, Kelley McComb, Kerrey Stamps, Kris Bundy, Kacey Bundy, Keith Putty, Melanie Putty, Calvin Putty, Nathan Putty, great grandchildren, Jessica Cosby, Earl (Hoss) Cosby, Sean Hadley, Michael McComb, Meghann Stamps, Janie Bundy, James Bundy, Kristin Peacher, Tyler Putty, Olivia Putty, Lucy Putty, Spencer Putty and great, great grandchildren, Griffin Cosby, Harrison Cosby, Willa Jean Cosby, Grayson McComb, Rosie McComb, Kylie Rampersad, Kemellia Umana, Cameron Putty, Harper Putty siblings Norma Tidwell, and Randolph Hadley, and many numerous nieces and nephews.
