Joan Ferguson Bolster's Obituary
We celebrate the beautiful life of Joan Ferguson Bolster, born in Nashville, Tennessee, and passing in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Family remember her as a family-oriented, adventurous, and classy lady whose sense of joy filled every room.
She loved cheering for UT football and the Tennessee Titans, turning game days into lively events. Country music, especially Elvis Presley, played often in her home, adding a steady rhythm to her days.
Joan’s curiosity drew her to new cities, scenic drives, and fresh experiences, and she never tired of planning the next trip. A quick visit to a local shop always ended with a well-chosen outfit that matched her polished style.
In the kitchen she was happiest, stirring chicken and dumplings and other country favorites that anchored holiday dinners. Each Christmas she guided the family through the lights at Opryland Hotel, making those evenings a treasured tradition.
Dedicated and resilient, she balanced busy days as a bookkeeper with tireless care for her home. Friends admired her responsible, humble, and determined spirit, qualities that served as quiet encouragement to everyone around her.
Joan’s faith grew within First Baptist Church in Hendersonville and Long Hollow Baptist Church, and her steady presence there reflected her deep gratitude. She lived her beliefs through consistent kindness rather than grand words. Her granddaughter fondly remembered Joan telling her that she was “going Home” on Saturday, and her greatest wish came true that night.
Today we choose joy as we remember her love of music, travel, cooking, and sports, and the warmth she shared so freely. Her life remains a bright reminder to work hard, stay humble, and greet every adventure with an open heart.
She is survived by daughters Barbara Ann Lee (Charles) and Vickie Darlene Carrell; sisters Gloria Beard and Patricia Hurst; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Those who have passed on before her are her loving husband of 67 years, Lewis Bolster, her parents, James and Patricia Ferguson, brothers, Larry Ferguson, Richard Ferguson, Donald Ferguson, Jackie Ferguson, and Bob Ferguson, sisters, Betty Brown and Beverly Nichols, and grandson, Paul Godwin.
