Ms. Joanne Callis Smith, age 86 of Joelton, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. She was born in Portland, Tennessee on February 4, 1935 to the late Willie and Myrtle Callis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Warren Smith, children Carolyn Smith, Kevin Smith, and Kenneth Briley, as well as brother Larry Callis. She is survived by her children Michael Smith, Karen Davison, Julia Johnson, and Ronald Smith, sister Mary Walton, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of extended family and friends.
Joanne was a sweet and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her faith was very important to her, and in her younger years, she enjoyed singing in her church choir. She also worked for the state for over thirty years. Joanne loved flowers, especially roses, and her husband Warren always made sure she had them to enjoy. In more recent years, Joanne enjoyed singing and sitting on the porch watching the hummingbirds with her “granddog” Woody.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home on Sunday December 19 at 2pm.
