Mr. Joe Edward O'Guin's Obituary
Mr. Joe Edward O’Guin, age 87 of Hendersonville, Tennessee, was welcomed with open arms into Heaven by his Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 16, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fount and Connie O’Guin; sister, Myrtle Wilson; brother, David O’Guin; and grandson, Michael Clement.
Mr. O’Guin served in the Army Air Force from 1945 until 1947. He retired after 34 years from Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, a division of Tenneco as a Right-of-Way Supervisor. He attended Clemson College and U.T. Junior College at Martin. He graduated from George Peabody College for Teachers in 1950. He taught Math and English at Linden and Lobelville High Schools. He coached Girls Basketball at Lobelville. He loved spending time with his family, Bible study, and working Crossword Puzzles and Sudokus. Mr. O’Guin was easygoing, patient, and had a sense of humor. He loved God and his family. He was a former Sunday School teacher of 40 years and longtime member of Bluegrass Baptist Church in Hendersonville.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Atha McClung O’Guin; daughters, Linda O. (Robert) Clement and Janet O. (Ted) Cumuze; sisters, Connie Fuqua and Ruth Harbison; grandchildren, Jason and Christina Clement.
His family will receive friends from 4 p.m.until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18 and from 12 p.m. until his Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19 at Spring Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Overstreet officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
His family would gratefully like to thank James Carmack, M.D. and his staff along with the staff at The Hearth at Hendersonville’s Keepsake Village for their loving and compassionate care of our husband and father.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Interment will be in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Services entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Rd., Nashville, Tennessee.
