John H. Betty's Obituary
John H. Betty, 71, of Nashville, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Faye and Austin W. Betty. Mr. Betty is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Betty, a daughter, Rachel Betty, a sister, Debbie Lee and her husband Gary, a brother, Tommy Betty and his wife Connie, four nieces and nephews, Derek Lee and his wife Sonya, Daniel Lee, Austin Betty and his wife Jennifer and Sherrie Betty, and six great-nieces and nephews, Aiden, Alex, Austin, Ashton, Savannah and Abigail.
Mr. Betty graduated from the George Peabody College for Teachers. He was a member of the Sigma Epsilon fraternity where he received the Best Pledge Award. Mr. Betty was a member at Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian. He finished his work career with Second Harvest Food Bank, an organization he help start, but before that he had many more interests. From glass blowing to restoring historic homes and even catering, Mr. Betty had a knack for doing it all. Fifteen years ago he suffered from a stroke. He continued to persevere and live life to the fullest. Mr. Betty always had a project and several goals. He valued friendships which he was known to retain for many many years. He loved his family, wife and daughter, not to mention time with his grand-nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 7 from 2:00 pm until the time of the Celebration of Life memorial service at 3:00 pm at Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3705 Brush Hill, Nashville, TN 37216.
