Mr. John Bradford Jr.'s Obituary
John Bradford, Jr., of Nashville, TN, died Friday, January 12, after a brief illness. He was 90.
John, a longtime salesman for Simmons and an independent furniture rep who travelled throughout Tennessee and Kentucky, was known for more than forty years for his tireless work in the Nashville-area recovery community. He started several of the longest-running meetings in Nashville and loved, inspired and encouraged thousands of people recovering from drug and alcohol abuse.
He was born January 27, 1927, in Birmingham, Alabama, and grew up there and in the Atlanta area. He was preceded in death by his mother, Floy Jarrett Bradford West, three sisters, his beloved wife, Fay M. Bradford, and his son, John Arthur Bradford.
He is survived by his daughter, Diana Lee Bradford, his grandchildren Taylor (Edalmarys) Bradford and Kelsey (Chris) Clay, several nieces and nephews, and countless friends and acquaintances.
John served during World War II in the U.S. Navy as a motor machinist mate, 3rd class. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a lifetime member of the NRA. A former Eagle Scout, he served as Boy Scout troop leader for his son's troop, and provided faithful transportation for his grandson's trumpet lessons. He was a well-known S-gauge/American Flyer train enthusiast.
There will be a celebration of life at 12:00 noon, Friday, January 19, 2018, at The Donelson Fellowship, 3210 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN 37214. Visitation with family will begin at 11:00 a.m.
