Mr. John L. Cooley's Obituary
Mr. John L. Cooley, age 88 of Hendersonville, Tennessee went to be with The Lord on January 8, 2022. He was born on May 18, 1933 in Greenville, Kentucky to the late Thomas and Veora Cooley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret McNutt Cooley and sisters Maryanna Springer and Imogene Eden Flint. He is survived by his daughters Charlene Smith and Laura Oliveros (Lewis), grandchildren Chaz Smith, Blake Smith, Kendall Smith, Luke Oliveros, and Layla Oliveros, as well as his sisters Gloria Baxter and Frances Matlock, and a host of loving extended family and friends.
John was a loving and caring individual who, from a very young age, knew the value of a hard day’s work. John began delivering papers at the age of eight, as well as working on and caring for his parents’ land, which was lovingly called “The Ponderosa.” John continued caring for The Ponderosa, making a hobby of maintaining its beautifully manicured grass and landscaping well into his eighties. Attending car shows was also a favorite hobby, as John loved older cars. He also very much enjoyed his job as a truck driver and loved being able to travel and see something new every day, rather than work behind a desk. He was one of the hardest working people you could meet, because he always wanted to make sure that everyone was taken care of. John was a man of strong faith, and he showed the love of Christ by caring for others and making sure that those around him always had their needs met.
A visitation for Mr. Cooley will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 4pm-8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 14 at 2pm in the Spring Hill Funeral Home Chapel, with the family receiving visitors one hour prior. Entombment in the Serenity Chapel Mausoleum in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery will follow.
Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery has been entrusted with the final care of Mr. Cooley. 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, Tennessee 37216. (615) 865-1101. “Where Nashville Comes to Remember.”
