Mr. John "Whit" Curtis' Obituary
John “Whit” Curtis, age 91, passed away April 03, 2017. He was born in Calhoun Ga. On February 05, 1926 to Forest and Caroline Curtis. He was predeceased by his parents; half-brother, Tom Curtis; half-sister Gladys Keyes; step daughter, Debbie Smith; step son in law, Danny Pewitt. He is survived by his wife Hazel Curtis; step daughters, Connie Pewitt and Judy(Len) Arendall. Step grandchildren; Candie Vuerich, Chad Bailey, Todd and Mark Pewitt and five great grandchildren; one niece and two nephews. Whit was a long-time member of Inglewood Baptist Church and served the Lord through music. In the early 50’s he played piano for the John Daniel Quartet. And sometimes substituted as pianist at Inglewood Baptist Church, and with choral groups. He was a member of the choir for many years until he was 89 years old. He was an avid golfer and a charter member of Oak Hills Golf Course in Greenbrier Tn. Other hobbies included his love of reading and working puzzles. Whit will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, April 05, 2017 from 4-7 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, April 06, 2017 at 11 am at Inglewood Baptist Church with a visitation one hour prior to service time.
