John W Epley's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of John W. Epley
January 24th, 1936 - March 31st, 2026
We celebrate the beautiful life of John W. Epley, born in Nashville, TN. His years were filled with energy, curiosity, and a steady love for family and friends.
John’s happiest moments often found him on the dance floor with his late wife Martha, gliding to favorite tunes. He also enjoyed coon hunting, boating on the lake, tending his vegetable garden, and playing or watching baseball—first at North High School and then for the rest of his days.
For 45 years John worked at Lucient Technology, calling it both a career and a hobby. He took pride in every project and welcomed each new challenge with the same excitement he brought to his pastimes.
Family remained John’s greatest joy. He is remembered by his son Steve (Denise) Epley, daughters Karen Epley and Jennifer (Steve) Landerss; grandchildren: Rachel (Jeremy) Davis and Lexi Epley; great-grandchildren, Trinity, Riker, Christian, Skyren, Arius, and Lillith, sister, Nellie Spooner, and with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
John now reunites with those who passed before him—parents Andrew Jack Epely and Mary Lou Stevenson, his beloved wife Martha, and grandson John S. Epley Jr. Their memories stay bright in every shared story and smile.
Today we honor John’s spirited life, his love of simple joys, and the steady way he cared for those around him. May each garden row, lake breeze, and crack of a baseball bat remind us of the laughter and warmth he gave so freely.
