Mr. John Bee Jones' Obituary
John Bee Jones, Jr., age 86 of Clarksville and formerly of Nashville passed away on December 17, 2014. He was born in Sumner County, Tennessee on November 23, 1928 to the late John Bee Jones, Sr. and Mary E. Dunne Jones. John and seven of his siblings were born at the family home in the country; his eighth sibling, Mary, was the first of the Jones children to be born in a hospital.
John was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many people. His daughter remembers that he was always up in the morning to light the pot-bellied coal stove to heat up the house so that the kids could get up and get off to school. He always made sure that they went to school and was always there when they arrived home. John loved country music, especially Hank Sr., and in his younger days, loved to hunt opossum, rabbits, and squirrels.
In addition to his parents and six of his siblings, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Hightower. He is survived by his loving companion of 35 years, Sarah Nickens; daughter, Marilyn Jones; son, John Bee Jones, III; sisters, Mary Chrisman and Mattie Mai (Joe) Weaver; grandchildren, Tonya (Jason) Fleming and Daniel (Steffany) Hightower; six great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends whom he loved dearly.
John’s family will receive friends and visitors on Sunday, December 21, 2014, from 1:00pm til 7:00pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. The family will honor John with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Thomas B. Craighead section of Historic Spring Hill Cemetery, with John’s nephews serving as pallbearers.
