John Taylor Kelley Jr.'s Obituary
Heaven welcomed John Taylor Kelley, Jr. on August 12, 2024. Born 4/11/1936 in Athens, AL, to John, Sr. and Hattie Longshore Kelley, he graduated from Minor Hill High School, then served 4 yrs. in the Navy aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard aircraft carrier. When stint ended, he settled in Goodlettsville, married Joanne Smith and later welcomed daughter, Mylinda.
John retired twice -- after working 30 yrs. for Western Union as electronic technician and after 15 years at the IRS as telecommunications specialist.
In his heyday, John was a talented boatsman, builder, handyman, mechanic, gardener, and cook. He loved to laugh, could tell a great story, and had boundless energy and enthusiasm that was contagious.
John loved God, his family and spending time at Kentucky Lake. Years ago, he built a cabin there which his family uses year-round. At gatherings, sitting around a picnic table, John would grill burgers and hot dogs while family visited and swapped tales. Children found their entertainment.
He was always interactive with his grandchildren whether it be at the lake, their school or sports event. He was very supportive of his step children and grandson. He also loved Murphy, his faithful rat terrier companion,
John, a loving husband, father and grandfather is survived by his wife of 21 years, Frankie Siekiersky Kelley; daughter, Mylinda Kelley Frost (David Haggard); step children, Langley (Gwen) and Jennifer Siekiersky;. 4 grandchildren, Kelley, David (Heather) and Brian Frost (Abbi); granddaughter, Erin Parker (Jordy) and step grandson, Jack Siekiersky.
He has 7 great grandchildren; Taylor, Jocelyn, Evie, Lincoln and John Frost; Lucille and Joanna Parker; sister, Betty Starling (Alvin). Preceded in death are his parents, sisters: Irene Drew, Tessie White, Lucille Glover and dearly loved grandson Kelley Frost.
John, a member of Madison Church of Christ, attended until ill health interrupted. He spent years compiling Bible study information which he distributed at church, and to family and friends.

Visitation will be 12 - 2 p.m. on August 30, 2024, followed by a funeral service by Bro. Marty Rothschild at Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216. (615) 865-1101.
