Mr. John (Monk) Richard Wells' Obituary
John R. (Monk) Wells, age 81, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sadie and Jack Wells. He is survived by his sister, Claudia Joan Wells; cousins and many friends.
Growing up in East Nashville he was a member of Lockland Baptist Church for over 50 years. He coached the young men’s basketball and softball teams in his early years. He loved sports and was involved in fast pitch softball for over 40 years. First as a pitcher and in later years coaching and managing the teams.
Monk was employed by Robert Orr/ Sysco Foods for 45 years.
Visitation and for Monk will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216, on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 9 AM until 11 AM at which time a Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
