John Taggart O'Donnell's Obituary
John Taggart O’Donnell, 74, originally of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully just after midnight on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
John grew up in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn until he and his wife, Kathy, moved to the Poconos in PA. While in Northeast PA, John worked in dining rooms at Penn Hills, Mount Airy Lodge, and The 1890 Barn before owning and operating Chinnici’s restaurant in Scranton, PA. He would later go on into a number of successful sales positions before finding a wonderful stride building relationships and helping provide ADT security systems to businesses. John and Kathy moved to Nashville in October 2021 to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law.
John was beloved by many for his one-of-a-kind personality. He was an endlessly curious thinker, comedian, pot-stirrer, and fan of the New York Mets and New York Jets, who almost never met someone he couldn’t get along with. In the words of one relative who paid tribute to him, “you can’t dislike a guy who keeps you laughing.”
John is preceded in death by his parents, George O’Donnell and Adele O’Donnell née Adele Taggart, and his brothers George and Richie.
He is survived by his wife Kathy O’Donnell née Kathy Chinnici, son Matthew, and daughter-in-law Amanda O’Donnell née Amanda LeSaicherre.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd at Saint Henry Catholic Church, 6401 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205. There will be a visitation at the church from ten o’clock in the morning until eleven o'clock, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at eleven o’clock until noon. A procession to the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Pike in Nashville will follow, where there will be a final graveside service at one o’clock in the afternoon.
Flowers can be sent to Saint Henry Catholic Church.
