Mr. John "Gordon" Steele's Obituary
In Loving Memory
John “Gordon” Steele, Sr. went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ. He ran well and fought the good fight of faith. He was a faithful husband, father and grandfather who was loyal to his family with unconditional love.
He was also a true patriot who loved and served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Gordon was preceded in death by his wife Della Lee Kamoni, father John Clifford Steele, mother Murray B. Pettis, sisters Polly Calloway, Bessie Tolliver, Christine Wasson, and Olivia Butler.
His surviving children are John G. Steele, Jr, Richard M. Steele, Kim L. Steele, and Tami L. Martin. Grandchildren Joseph E. Elder, Ronald “Damon” Steele and his wife Sheryll Steele, Richard “Steven” Steele and his wife Dayna Steele, Nathan L. Martin, Jonathan R. Martin, and Kimberlea L. Martin. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren Justin E. Elder and Ashton F. Steele.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 4:30-8:00pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, from 11:00am-12:30pm. Funeral services will begin at 12:30pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the Chapel at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Nashville National Cemetery.
