Mr. John Charles Van Goor's Obituary
John Charles Van Goor, age 97, passed away December 14, 2014. He was born on November 14, 1917 in Patterson, New Jersey to the late Jan-Reinhart and Anna Helen Giebelhausen Van Goor. He proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a TWA airplane pilot for over 40 years. He was a longtime member of Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he had served as treasurer and an elder. Preceded in death by his parents; sister Marie Maloscay; wife of 70 years, Alma Pauline “Polly” Van Goor; and sons Randall and Ronald Van Goor. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Belman; grandchildren Erick Lee, Cynthia Wheeler, and John Van Goor; great-grandchildren Mowgly Lee, Daisy Lee, Ryan Wheeler, Eva Wheeler, Stella Van Goor, and Lucy Van Goor, and best friend, Frank Balcik.
A graveside service will be held conducted on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, 10:00 a.m. in the Gallatin City Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Butcher officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, December 16th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216, 615-865-1101, www.springhillfh.com.
