Mr. John "Pop" Vardell's Obituary
John Thomas “Pop” Vardell, age 83, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Lebanon, Tennessee. John was born on June 26, 1935 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Thomas Percy Vardell and Josephine Kekule Vardell.
Pop can be described as a man that was “proud to be an American.” He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing poker with his friends and riding across the country in his motorhomes. He was a family man and enjoyed cooking for his family of whom he loved so well. He also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, working in the yard and watching all the deer, birds and various wildlife. He cherished greatly the life that he had been blessed with.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a son, Landon Scott Vardell.
Pop is survived by his wife of nearly sixty-five years, Delores (Brecheen) Vardell; daughter, Joyce Mayhugh (Terry); sons, Jeffrey Vardell and William Thomas Vardell; grandchildren, Tiffany Rego, Rachel Owens, Amy Gaul, Brad Vardell, Tommy Vardell, Jr. and Heather Vardell; nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 4 pm-8 pm with an additional visitation held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 110 am until the time of service at 12 noon at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Peyton Carney, Sam Chaple, Bobby Rego, Michael Owens, Hayden Chaple, Emory Chaple and Brad Vardell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Payer and Tommy Johnstone.
Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery has been entrusted with the final care of Mr. Vardell.
