John Stanleigh “Stan” Wilson, 59, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022 surrounded by his family. Born February 11, 1963, in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of Jerry and Ava Carolyn Earps Wilson.
Stan was a member of the Hillwood High School Class of 1981. He then joined the United States Army where he served his country proudly. He was a part of the Alpha Battery, 1/36 Field Artillery Regime section. Chief of the Special Weapons section. He loved his family and grandchildren dearly and loved to spend time with them. Whether to the beach, the mountains, or overseas, Stan enjoyed traveling and creating new memories. Stan was a huge Tennessee Vols fan along with the Tennessee Titans, Nashville Predators, and Nashville FC. He was a selfless man who always went out of his way to help people in need. His family and friends will remember “Mr. Fix It” as being a man of his word, someone who stands up for what they believe in, and putting others first.
He was proceeded in death by his sister Tammy Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years Karen Wilson; his parents Jerry and Ava Wilson; his daughters Savannah Wilson and Mandy Benson (Daniel); two sisters Lisa Wilson, Renee Reed (Ron); two brothers Victor Wilson and Jeff Wilson; three grandchildren Kayleigh, Imogen, and Connor; and his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 6th, from 1 PM – 5 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville, TN. A celebration of life service will take place on November 7th, at 9 AM at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Burial and Military honors will follow at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
