Rev. Johnny Richard Parish's Obituary
Reverend Johnny Richard Parish, age 59, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at his home. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Parish. He is survived by his father, Lambert Parish; his wife of 36 years, Rita Parish; one son, Justin Parish (Katy); one daughter, Amber Hunley (Tracy); one brother, Mark Parish; one sister, Sandra Phillips; five grandchildren, Jonas, Jaden, Weston, Harlow and Asher; and his faithful furry companion, Scarlet. Johnny was the pastor at Madison First Cumberland Presbyterian Church for the last 18 years. He was a Child Protective Services Investigator for seven years for the state of TN, prior to that he worked in the printing industry for 22 years at Phillips Printing Company and Rand McNally. Johnny loved sports and was a football and baseball coach at Jess Neely, Madison Park and Drakes Creek Park. He loved children and he and Rita welcomed 19 foster children into their home. Visitation for Johnny will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 12 pm until 8 pm, and again on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 10 am until 2 pm at which time a celebration of life funeral ceremony will be conducted from the chapel at Spring Hill Funeral Home by Pastor Dwayne Tyus. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Joey Bassham, Jack Fennell, Randy Kestner, Mike Palmore, Mike Ryan and Phil Ryan. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Research Institute, 1100 Charlotte Ave, Suite 800, Nashville, TN, 37203 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN, 38101.
