Joseph F. Sapp August 23, 1939 to July 27, 2017
Survived by his wife, Shirley Griggs Sapp, sister, Mary Sapp, 4 children, Lisa Jara (Gerardo), C. Renee Alexander (Randy), Pamela Birdwell, and Debby Dickens (Thomas), grand-children, Marty, Megan, Devon, Joseph, Benjamin, Christi, and Elizabeth and 2 step-grand-children, 3 Great grand-children and 6 step great grand-children.
Joe was born in Foley, Florida but his family moved back to his Mother’s hometown of Nashville, TN when he was still a young boy. He graduated from Father Ryan High School in 1957. He worked for The Tennessean as a machine operator for 41 years. After his retirement he volunteered with the Tennessee Central Railway Museum and worked part time for CSC in Nashville. He is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus when it had a Goodlettsville location.
He spent his retirement caring for his wife of 53 years and spending time with his children and grand-children. He participated in a lot of studies over the course of his 2 and ½ year battle with leukemia that will help others. He always put others before himself, even during the course of his illness. He is dearly missed already.
Visitation will be held at Springhill Funeral Home Sunday, July 3, 2017 from 2:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. and Monday from 11:30a.m. until 2:00p.m. with funeral mass held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 2:00p.m. Graveside and burial immediately following at Springhill Cemetary.
