Joy Elizabeth Kennedy Shipp, age 75 of Gallatin, passed away on July 20, 2013. Mrs. Shipp was born on May 30, 1938 in Nashville, TN. Joy was the daughter of the late James & Dorothy Kennedy. She is survived by her three sons; Wil Read Obituary
Aunt Joy was just that - pure joy. She always had a smile, and her quirks brought us many laughs and fond memories. From reading my palm (and nailing it) to send us great and unusual gifts from Christmas, right down to all the kind words and love she shared...she was a true spirit. Joy - heaven and Nana are lucky to have you both! Love you!
I too am a member of the 1959 class of Baptist school of nursing. There are fond memories for me, visiting the Kennedy home and sharing Joy's love and knowledge of Nashville. I send prayers to you Jimmie and each of her sons and family. She will always be a part of that special time we spent together in school of nursing.

I too am a member of the class of 1959 at Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. I have fond memories of visiting the Kennedy home and sharing Joy's love and knowledge of Nashville. It was a special time in all of our lives.

Jimmy, I am so sorry about Joy. I am unable to attend the service but please know you and the family are in my thoughts. Reviewed the video and was so happy to see that Joy never lost her beautiful smile and that brought back the sound of her sweet laugh. She visited me once after I moved back to TN. and we talked about going to FL. together when she wanted to sell her condo and I never heard from her again. Please call me when you have time. Joy was a classmate of mine at Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. We were of the 1959 graduating class. Six of our class mates still get together about twice a year. Joy came once or twice and then we lost contact with her. Wish we had know she was so close. Sorry to here of her passing. We will remember the good times we shared at our next get together. Joy and I graduated from Mid-State Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She was a great nurse and a delightful friend; so fun to be around. We will all miss her.
