Joyce Marie Smalling's Obituary
Joyce Marie Smalling, 93, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away surrounded by her family on April 21, 2024. She was born March 6, 1931, in Nashville, Tennessee to Robert and Mary Evans.
She is predeceased by her husband, Dennis Smalling, parents, Robert and Mary Evans, two brothers, Roger Evans and James Evans.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are Jackie Daniels, Dennis (Susann) Smalling, Jr., Quintin (Pam) Smalling, Tony (Lisa) Smalling, Zachary Daniels, Garrett Smalling, Gabrielle Shelton, Amanda Easley, Jeffrey Smalling, Chris Smalling, Stephanie Cook, one great-grandchild, Emma Smalling, and a brother, Floyd Evans.
Joyce was a great cook and was well-known for her homemade chocolate pies. Her pies were so prized that family members would often hide them from each other. Her passion was spending time with her family.
Early in her adulthood, she and Dennis would spend evenings square dancing, or playing card games like Rook.
One of her favorite vacation spots was Gatlinburg, Tennessee where she spent time shopping and taking in the majestic Smoky Mountains.
A visitation with family and friends will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 12 pm noon until 2 pm with service to follow.
