Joyce grew up in Evansville, IN where she met the love of her life, Henry, at the age of 14. Henry joined the Navy out of high school and served for 20 years. During that time, they lived in many places like the Philippines, Alabama, California, Florida, and Rhode Island. Joyce learned to be strong and capable of taking on many things while being a Navy wife. Raising 4 children while dealing with medical issues related to a traumatic automobile accident at 18 years old, she relied on her strength, faith, and the support of her husband and family. Family was very important to her, and she loved hosting birthday and holiday gatherings as well as game nights with family and friends. It made her feel good to know her home was warm and welcoming to anyone who came to visit. She loved to make things by hand and was an excellent sewer. Many a time she could be found patching up holey jeans, hemming pants and restitching garments. Joyce enjoyed making meals for family and friends and was known best for her lasagna and peach cobbler.
Joyce attended Lakeview Church of Christ most of her adult life and held management positions in retail and shoe stores before retiring. She then volunteered with voting and at the gift shop at Skyline Medical Center. Joyce had an active family life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had many close friends and never met a stranger.
Joyce will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
