Mrs. Judy Harvey Parrish's Obituary
Mrs. Judy Harvey Parrish, age 76 of Madison, Tennessee, passed away on the morning of Sunday, September 20, 2020. She was born on January 11, 1944 in Madison, Tennessee to the late Fred and Vennie Jones Harvey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband David Lee Parrish and her brother Hugh Jackson Harvey. She is survived by her children Susan Ma (Chao), Kara Kindall (Johnny), and John D. Parrish (Heather), her sisters Freida McMurtry, Jeanie Burns, and Jan Wiles. She is also survived by her grandchildren Eva Kindall, Jesse Kindall, Scout Parrish, and Jake Parrish, as well as her sister-in-law Karen Taylor and brother-in-law Ed Parrish (Carolyn).
Judy was a Madison native, born and raised in Madison, Tennessee. She graduated from Madison High School in 1962. Judy earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Trevecca Nazarene College, now known as Trevecca Nazarene University.
Judy was a Metro Nashville Public School teacher for 32 years, spending most of her career at Chadwell Elementary School in Madison. Judy was a kind and generous person, always willing to give of her time and self for others. She was strong and resilient, raising three children on her own after her husband, David, passed away in 1989. Judy was passionate about the field of education and the importance of being well-educated; all three of her children went on to earn Master’s Degrees.
A graveside service to celebrate Mrs. Parrish’s life is being held Friday, September 25th at 11am with viewing and visitation beginning at 10am. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Youth Department of Judy’s home church, Nashville First Church of the Nazarene, 510 Woodland Street.
