June Estelle Moore Greenwood's Obituary
June Estelle Moore Greenwood age 95, formerly of Crossville and Madisonville, TN, passed away September 2, 2012. Mrs. Greenwood was born November 5, 1916 in Sweetwater, TN. Preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Othar Kenneth Greenwood; her parents Allie Jefferson Moore and Mattie Lee Butler Moore; siblings Letha Virgilee Moore Thomas, Bobby Moore, Odalite Moore McDaniel, Eugene (Gene) Moore, and Barrett Keith Moore. Survived by children Patricia Ann (Ann) Besch of Hendersonville, TN, Judy B. Greenwood of Kingston Springs, TN, and Jerry Lynn Bledsoe and husband, Phillip Bledsoe of Loudon, TN; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; beloved sister-in-law, Irene Greenwood Norman of Knoxville, TN; Kathryn Greenwood of Madisonville, TN; Jonnie and Leonard Greenwood of Frostproof, FL; and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. June had many accomplishments during her life, the greatest one being a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a graduate of Draughons Business College. In the early years, she volunteered at the local hospital. She served in education for over 30 years. During that time she was the secretary of the high school, subsitute teacher, and sold many World Books to help educate children. She loved teaching, especially elementary children. June and Kenneth were avid gardeners of vegetables and fruit which they canned and kept frozen to supply the family’s yearlong needs. She was a highly proficient seamstress and enjoyed creating quilts and clothing for her daughters and family members. June loved outdoor activities, especially birds, trees and wildflowers, and instilled these passions in her children and grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed music and was actively involved in bible study wherever she lived, sharing her faith openly with others. June was also a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star #426 for over 50 years. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Guardian Hospice, The Cumberland Assisted Living Memory Care Unit, Lakeshore the Meadows, and Lakeshore Heartland. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday September 5, 2012 at 11AM CST at the Memorial Baptist Church in Crossville, TN, 1858 Sparta Highway, Crossville, TN, with Bro. Bill Roberts officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10-11AM CST at the church. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Madisonville, TN at 4PM EST.
