Katherine Pearce's Obituary
PEARCE, Georgia Katherine Roth, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009. Mrs. Pearce was born in Nashville on January 18, 1909, and recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at Lakeshore Wedgewood, where she recently resided. Born to George Washington and Katherine "Kate" Isabel Greer Roth, Mrs. Pearce lived in Nashville all her life, where she worked for a time at the Methodist Publishing House. She was a long time member of Inglewood Baptist Church, and a founding member of the Effeness (Every Friday Night Sewing) Club. Mrs. Pearce loved crafts, gardening, and cooking, but most of all she loved doing things for others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude T. Pearce; sisters, Frances (Dave) Startup, Rita (Herman) Grizzard, Mickie Roth, Oma Moran, Annie House, Isla Brawner, Belle Walker, Robbie Polk, and brothers, Joseph Roth and William Roth. Mrs. Pearce is survived by many devoted and loving nieces and nephews, and her long time friend Helen DuBose. The family wishes to say a very special Thank You to the staff of Lakeshore Wedgewood Nursing Home and to Pam Walden of Guardian Hospice. The family will receive friends from 4-8pm Monday and again from 10am-11am Tuesday at the Spring Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kevin Shrum officiating. Entombment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Austin Adams, Brian Burr, Bud Upshaw, Thomas Atwood, Wayne Weems and Don Dyer. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class of Inglewood Baptist Church, Harry Sanders, Bob Motley, John Matthews, Claude Brawner, and Joe Brawner. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Inglewood Baptist Church, 3901 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216.
