Katherine Irene (Smith) Tomlin's Obituary
Katherine Irene (Smith) Tomlin, 89, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord and her loved ones on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Born in Burke County, NC on October 08, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Willie Robert Smith and Helen Jeanette (Greene) Smith. Katherine retired from the State of Tennessee, having worked at Middle Tennessee Chest Disease Hospital and Central State Hospital for the Insane. She served 35 years as a nurse caring for those in need of the most specialized medical and mental healthcare of that time.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Randall Tomlin and Kevin Tomlin; grandchildren, Lori, Mathew, Karah, Ryan, and Erica; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Fritts, Linda Smith, Margie Smith; brother, Robert Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by three brothers; and six sisters.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, March 4, 2024, from ten o’clock in the morning until the time of the graveside service at eleven o’clock in the morning at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville.
