Kathryn Thomas Flake's Obituary
FLAKE, Kathryn Thomas- Age 92 of Madison passed away in Nashville on Thursday, June 16th. She was born July 29, 1918 to the late John Edward and Katie Crenshaw Thomas in Milan, Tennessee. Her Family moved to Paris, Tennessee when she was 12. It was there she met her future husband, Tom Flake, and they were married on February 29, 1940. They moved to Nashville in 1942. Kathryn was dedicated to her family and took great pride in them. She was an accomplished china painter, taught Sunday school and Bible class for many years, enjoyed reading, playing bridge, antiquing and enjoying her friends. She was a member of Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In Addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Flake, a brother, J. C. Thomas and a sister, Biddy Thomas. Kathryn is survived by her two daughters, Biddy and husband Jack Royster of Huntsville, Alabama, Susan and husband Jerry Sparrow of Stuttgart, Arkansas; her grand children, Holly and husband Johnny Guthrie of Madison, Alabama, Clay and wife Liz Sparrow of Nashville, Katie and husband Ryan Boyd of Cabot, Arkansas, and 6 great grandchildren, Lexi and Jackson Royster, Noah and Alice Sparrow, and Elise and Grand Boyd. Visitation will be at Spring Hill Funeral Home, Nashville, Monday, June 20th from 11AM until time of service at 12PM with Pastor Kenny Butcher officiating. Mrs. Flake will be taken to Milan, TN for a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery on Tuesday at 1PM.Memorial Contributions may be made to Martha O'Bryan Center, 711 South Seventh Street, Nashville, TN 37206-3895 or to any charity of your choice.
