Katie Elizabeth Kerr's Obituary
KERR, Katie Elizabeth; Age 80 of Madison, TN passed away October 31, 2011 at her home. She was born in Nashville, TN on July 31, 1931 to the late Lee and Annie Armstrong. In her early life she was the youngest of three children and took on the responsibility of caring for her mother while she became educated at East High and worked to support the family. Later in her life she owned J&K Tool and Die Supply Co. Katie always wanted to become a nurse and she was proud of her daughter and granddaughter who became nurses. She enjoyed spending time working in her flowers, cooking for her family, spending time with her grandchildren, and her three guilty pleasures, coffee, cigarettes and slot machines. If you ever had the chance to meet her you were always treated as her favorite and never left her sight without a hug goodbye. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy “Cat” Ethridge (Brian Pyburn); 27 year companion, Ken Hanks; grandchildren, Julie (Luis) Jaramillo, David Jack (Selena) Williams, Jesse Williams, and Sue Clark-Moore; great-grandchildren, Jazmin, Alex, Myah, Isaiah, Monet, Julian, Ariah, Kaiden; she was preceded in death by her siblings, Avery Lee Manor and Robert Earl Armstrong. The funeral ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 2PM in the afternoon. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 10-2PM. Interment will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Jesse Williams, David Williams, Donnie Williams, Luis Jaramillo, Brian Pyburn, Mike Kontgias and Preston Shirley. Memorial contributions can be made at Spring Hill Funeral Home to coordinate travel arrangements for family.
