Kaye Lee Cozart's Obituary
Kaye West Lee Cozart of Nashville passed away peacefully on September 12 at age 82. She was born August 10, 1943, in Dunn, North Carolina, the daughter of J.R. and Katie Tart Lee. She attended Meadow High School in Benson, North Carolina and went on to become a legal secretary. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and a pillar of strength and faith to all who knew her.
Along with her parents, Kaye was preceded in death by her cherished son, Clay, in 2015 and her adored big brother, Patrick, in 2020. She is survived by her daughters Catherine (Paul Salcedo) and Candace (Steve Nelson), grandchildren Jack Salcedo, Charlie Salcedo, Joe Salcedo, Titus Davis, Curtis Davis, Caroline Davis, and Claudia Davis, as well as her niece, Jan Lee, nephews Tim Lee and Todd Lee (Gina), grand-niece Stacey Lee, and a host of cousins.
With her knack for organization, attention to detail, and the now-rare skill of shorthand, Kaye worked for the North Carolina Attorney General’s office and several private law firms. She spent most of her career with Ingram Industries, Inc. and Ingram Entertainment, Inc., where she was an essential member of their legal teams.
Kaye’s faith was her compass, and she was a fervent believer in the power of prayer. She prayed unceasingly, whether it was to find a good parking space at the grocery store or for her family, friends, and even strangers.
Kaye loved her family and friends deeply, and she took great pride in their accomplishments and encouraged them through their challenges. She loved waking people up on their birthdays to sing “Happy Birthday.” She liked to quilt, solve puzzles, and watch mysteries and the Hallmark Channel. With her bright green eyes shining, she was the best listener (even if her hearing was not so good), and she had a way of making everyone feel special.
Kaye found solace, guidance, and inspiration in her relationships with Jesus and His Blessed Mother, and she intently studied her faith. “He will provide” was her constant motto, and she urged us all to love one another. Even in her final days, she declared, “I love everyone.”
