Mr. Kenneth Dever's Obituary
Kenneth D. McKellar Dever (“K.D.”), age 74, of Nashville and Miramar Beach, Florida, passed away on April 11, 2014. He was a native of Nashville, the former student body President of Howard High School, and the Founder and CEO of The Dever Company of Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisiana. K.D. was a member of Richland Country Club, Burnt Pine Golf Club of Florida, and the Country Club of Sapphire Valley in the mountains of North Carolina. K.D. believed strongly in self-preservation and practiced it every day of his life. He was fond of saying, “There were those of my generation who lived their entire lives in Camelot. I was fortunate to be one of them.”
K.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey Miller Derryberry and Noble Desmond Dever.
K.D. is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; brother, Frank Tillman Dever of Satsuma, Florida; daughters, Terri (Charlie) Daniel, Tamra Lee (Denis) Duncan; grandsons, Sawyer Desmond Duncan, Walker Wilkins Duncan, Duncan Joseph Daniel, and Preston Jacob Daniel.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 11am until 1pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Dye shall lead a Celebration of Life service at 1pm, after visitation. Interment will follow in historic Spring Hill Cemetery, with Ronnie Sharer, Jim Caldwell, Mac Grisham, Gary Corlew, Bob Hash, John Russell, Ronnie Scott, James Harwell, and Bob Waters serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203. Following the service, the family will have refreshments and fellowship at Hillwood Country Club, 6201 Hickory Valley Road, Nashville 37205 (615) 352-6591.
