Kurtis Eric Schofield's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Kurtis Eric Schofield, who left us on August 18th, 2024, in Cartersville, Georgia. Kurtis was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose love and dedication to his family knew no bounds. He was a man who would move heaven and earth for those he cherished.
Kurtis was an amazing father who raised his two sons with unwavering love and commitment, always ensuring that family came first. He was a firm believer in maintaining a healthy work-life balance, a principle he lived by and instilled in his children.
A man of many interests, Kurtis had a passion for playing board games, a fascination with trains, and a deep appreciation for WWII and American history. His love for cats was well-known, and he found great joy in their companionship.
Professionally, Kurtis had a distinguished career as a Systems Engineer at IBM, where he worked for many years. He also spent some time as a real estate appraiser, showcasing his versatility and dedication to his work.
Kurtis’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and passion. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Kurtis is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Dean Schofield and Janet Louise Fieldman Schofield. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Sue Ann Schofield; sons Thomas Robert Schofield (Stephanie Kartalopoulos) and James Eric Schofield; stepdaughters Julie Burge (Mark) and Sherry Decker; grandchildren John Burge and Benjamin Burge; sister Janelle Laylagien; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
The family will receive guests and relatives for visitation on Friday, August 30th, 2024, from 10:00-12:00 PM, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM and burial to follow at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216. All are welcome.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, “Where Nashville Comes to Remember.”
