With hearts full of love, we celebrate the beautiful life of Lanisa Lynell Dorse, who graced this world on November 10th, 1969, in Nashville, TN, and filled it with joy until February 12th, 2025.
Lanisa was a woman of many talents and passions. A lifelong learner, she achieved her master’s degree from Tennessee State University in 2015, inspiring those around her with her dedication to education. Before obtaining her master's, she started working for State of Tennessee, Department of Children Services and became an administrative officer later being promoted to lieutenant and advocate for children.
She had an infectious humor, and she was never at a loss for words. You may not have liked what she said but you knew where you stood with her. She was kind, caring and loving. She would give you the shirt off her back and if she did not have it, she would go buy it. Known for her zest for life, she embraced every moment with enthusiasm, whether she was immersed in a good book, exploring new destinations, or sharing her love for music.
One of Lanisa's defining adventures was her time as a DJ, where she spread joy through beats and melodies, bringing people together on the dance floor and creating unforgettable memories.
Family was at the heart of Lanisa’s world. She was the beloved daughter of Lemmie and Margaret Dorse, and a devoted mother to her step-son, Malachi Elder; wonderful connection god-children, Andrika Dansby, Joshua and Jayden Torrvellas. She shared a special bond with her siblings, Sheila Dorse Winfield, Steven (Renita) Dorse, and Kendrick (Uvonda) Dorse; bonus siblings, Pertrina Pigrum Moreau, Kavell Pigrum. As an aunt, she cherished her nieces Alyssia Margaret Jenkins, Megan Olivia Dorse, and Shakara Partinger, and nephews Joshua Lemmie Winfield, Kaleb Darnell Dorse, Gavin Kendrick Dorse, Joshua Partinger, Isaiah Harrison MD, Steven (Hillary) Dorse II, and great nephew Grant Issac Dorse; bonus nieces and nephews, Rian Carter, Kamora Beard, Eryn Johnson, Kavell Pigrum II and Amaria Pigrum. lifelong best friends, Tommy and Kim Lee, Stephanie Hamilton and Cassandra Stove.
