Larry Lamar Loring's Obituary
Larry Loring passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rose Loring; daughter, Karen Thompson (Lane); and three cherished grandchildren, Austin Wilhite, Isabella Wilhite, and Madeline Thompson. His surviving family members include his sister, Brenda Smith (Jim), and his brother, Fred Bracey (Sheryl). Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ruth and Lawrence Loring.
Larry, a native of East Nashville, was baptized at Lockeland Springs Church. He attended Baily Middle School, East High School, and later Martin College in Pulaski, Tennessee, where he earned a golf scholarship. Over the years, he stayed close with many of the friends he made during those school days—lifelong connections that meant the world to him.
Golf was Larry’s greatest passion, and he could often be found at Shelby Golf Course enjoying a round with friends. He was especially proud of his hole-in-one—though he had to share the bragging rights with both his wife and daughter, who each earned a hole-in- one of their own.
Larry served the city of Nashville as a firefighter. He loved the friendships he built on the job and took great pride in helping others. His sense of humor, contagious laugh, and fun- loving spirit made him a natural fit with his fellow firefighters.
Larry will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
