Laura E. Notgrass' Obituary
Laura Edna Notgrass, 96, of Springfield, Tennessee, passed away on May 23, 2026. Born on August 1, 1929, she was the cherished daughter of Estel McCoy Duer and Eva Dean (Taylor) Duer.
Laura spent her final five years in a caring facility, moving gracefully from independent living to assisted living, and finally to memory care. She was surrounded by a loving community that cherished her company. Known for her refreshing candor, surprising wit, and remarkable memory for hymn lyrics, Laura sang with joy and confidence regardless of whether she was in the right key. Her love for music may have been a result of her time spent in the Litton High School Marching Band in her early teens and years; her voice and spirit were strong enough to have earned her a place singing with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir in her adulthood.
A natural talent in design, Laura had an exceptional eye for beauty and the organizational skills to bring it to life. She made homes, gardens, and the people around her better. Her diverse career included work as a waitress, on an assembly line, in retail sales, and as a small business owner. She excelled in every role she took on.
She was preceded in death by too many loved ones to name.
Laura leaves behind a large and loving family of offspring who will miss her deeply. They have all been blessed by the health, talent, and opportunities her life helped provide.
