Laurie Jean Blondin's Obituary
Laurel “Laurie” Blondin, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2026, at TriStar Skyline Medical Center. Born on November 17, 1960, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Donald and Lois Lilly, Laurie lived a life defined by an unwavering devotion to those she loved and a profound spirit of caregiving.
At the age of seven, Laurie moved with her family to St. Petersburg, Florida, where she spent her formative years and embraced her most cherished role: that of a devoted mother. In the 1990s, she relocated with her daughter to the Madison area, beginning a new chapter that would define her personal and professional legacy.
It was while working at the Opryland Hotel’s Chat and Chew cafeteria that Laurie met the love of her life, William Blondin. Their connection blossomed into a deep, lasting partnership, and they were wed on February 14, 1998. Together, they built a home filled with warmth and shared memories. Professionally, Laurie served as an accountant for the State of Tennessee before discovering her true calling in caregiving. Working with a local elderly and hospice care organization, she provided companionship and comfort to those in their most vulnerable hours, a true testament to her genuine kindness and concern for others.
Laurie’s greatest pride and joy, however, remained her daughter. She watched with immense love and admiration as her daughter grew into a dedicated service member in the United States Air Force and a devoted mother herself, making Laurie the proud grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters, Elena and Maleah. Her family was the heartbeat of her world.
A woman of diverse interests and deep faith, Laurie was spiritually minded and observed the tradition of Lent with intentionality, using the season of sacrifice to grow closer to her faith. She found beauty in the world around her, especially in the vibrant shade of purple and the blooming of flowers. Peonies and roses of every variety, particularly latent roses, brought her immense happiness.
Laurie’s home was a reflection of her personality, filled with the mystery novels and thrillers of Lillian Jackson Braun and Dean Koontz, and her treasured collections of elephant and wolf figurines. She was a passionate animal lover who doted on her dogs, and she looked forward to every holiday spent with family, where she could be found in the kitchen offering encouragement and guidance while William cooked (often with sarcastic remarks).
Laurie’s warmth, compassion, and gentle spirit leave an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 28 years, William Blondin, daughter, Danielle (Daryl) Whitworth, granddaughters, Elena and Maleah Whitworth, siblings, Dawn Pilot, Jim Lilly, and Keith (Candy) Lilly.
