Obituary for Mrs. Leah "Peggy" Brown
Leah Francis Brown, best known as “Peggy Brown”, passed away peacefully at age 95 on Thursday, January 15, 2015.
She was born April 23, 1919 in Nashville, TN to the late Charles Monroe and Ora Lee Anderson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty years, Vernon Lee Brown. She had 4 children: Charlene Adamson, deceased, and survived by 3 children: Carol Wamble, Mike Brown (wife: Pam Brown) and Ruth Griffin. She had 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Peggy Brown was an active member of Hendersonville Church of Christ where her husband Vernon was an elder for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker but also involved with community activities such as Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, garden clubs as well as an active member of the Civitan Ladies Auxiliary. In addition, she did volunteer work with Rock Castle and served as President of Friends of Rock Castle during the restoration of the home. She also loved fishing, traveling, antiques, and family events. Her life was also always devoted to God, Jesus Christ and in helping people.
Her family will receive friends at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Madison on Friday, January 16 from 2 pm. until 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. They will also receive friends on Saturday, January 17 from 1 p.m. until her Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Madison, TN 37216.
In lieu of flowers you may send donations to the Family Assistance Fund of the Hendersonville Church of Christ, 107 Rockland Rd, Hendersonville, TN 37075 where the money will be distributed to those in need of food, utilities, medical care and other needs.
