Leah Jean Keel, age 93 of Madison, Tennessee, passed away April 26, 2020. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Clinton D. Keel, and children: David C. (Kathy) Keel, Steven D. (Annette) Keel, Pamela E. (Glen) Jacobson, Paul R. (Mary Katherine) Keel, 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Hester (James) Morgan and Huldah (Harold) Cotten.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard C. Shaff; mother, Bertha Doris Strohecker Shaff; brother, Howard (Elizabeth) Shaff; and sister Helen (William) Joslin.
Jean was born on June 6, 1926 in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was a 1944 graduate of East Nashville High School and worked briefly for the IRS before getting married and raising a family. Jean loved gardening, played the piano, and was a talented artist.
Jean was a devout Christian, and had always been active in the community and with her church, Madison Presbyterian Church and later, St. Luke Cumberland Presbyterian Church, until poor health intervened. She was a long-time member of the church choir, organized the Children’s Church and Vacation Bible School programs, Girl Scout leader, delivered meals with Meals on Wheels, and volunteered her time with the Cooperative Ministry in Madison to provide assistance to those in need.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020 from 10-11am at Spring Hill Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service starting at 11am. Burial in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery will follow. Spring Hill Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final care of Mrs. Keel. 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, Tennessee 37216.
